Caern of the Sea Bird (Ramsey Island, St. Davids head)
Caern Leader: Nikki Davies Totem: Greater Sea Gull
Caern Guardian: Anna Hurd Secondary Totem: Rabbit
Theurge: Laura West Location: Ramsey Island, St. David's Head, Wales
Nikki Davies: Fianna, Philodox, Rank 3, 5'6 ft tall, 39 years old, a middle aged Fianna with gingery brown hair with curls. Her face is round and she has a 'girl next door beauty'. She is in fact quite a tragic case. In her youth she opposed the wrong Shadow Lords openly and she now receives little support from the rest of Garou society as payment for her past indiscretions. She is rarely at other moots as she is unable to pull herself away from this caern due to a shortage of Garou and therefore is not an easy person to meet. Her aging years and lack of progress make her a bit desperate and eager to make new allies but there is a shame from affiliating with her that puts most people off. This gives her a sad quality and also some hard earned wisdom lines on her face. She has a kin husband who is a Patrick Stewart look alike and part time fisherman. She dresses as a hippy but is often seen in the caern’s ‘work’ uniform.
'Matt' Gordon Matthew Atherton-Smythe says: While she may have good intentions, her arrogance and prejudice are what may be the downfall of her caern. If she really cared about her people, she'd stepped aside long ago.
As it goes she clings to power, dragging the caern of the seabird into the ocean with her.
Stefan Hein: Tenacious for renown and eager for a good reputation. If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride. She knows the things she craves are achieved by deeds, and seems ready to work for her desires.
Tristan Greyholt: She made her bed and instead of lying in it, she wallows. There is hope for seabird if she can but accept her mistakes and learn from them.
Laura West 'Mouse': Glass Walker, Theurge, Rank 2, 5ft 2’ tall, 22 years old, the younger and less able sister of Richard West, though he never mentions the link. She has lost the allegiance from the Glass Walkers due to the adoption of her real name again, something which goes against their rules. She was an early developer having a first change at 12, she was treated like a child, even after her rite of passage, so she was quick to leave London. It was a bad move though as she threw herself in with a new caern which has never amounted to much. She is still a bubbly character about the caern as if nothing fazes her and she can be very headstrong. She still has little faith in her abilities and it makes her desperate to find her place but her skills far exceed her opinion of them. She is well endowed but still maintains the look of a 15-year-old girl, her hair is long, brown and straight. A strange relationship has grown with her and Peggy Longttooth who is now mostly absent since giving Laura the head theurge postion. Laura does not understand where she stands. With Nikki though, there is growing animosity between the two. She has never chosen a mate, but there is a secret love blossoming at the caern for her. She tends to wear baggy clothing to hide her curves.
'Matt' Gordon Matthew Atherton-Smythe says: Lovely and infuriating at the same time. Frankly, that is mostly Nikki’s fault. With some decent training and guidance, she would actually be quite competent.
Stefan Hein: Laura. I…there is something I…a sense of…she…I believe…Well...Richard West’s sister, of course. I knew him but briefly, at the Caern of Lost Pups. He fought well. I gather he and Laura are not close. It is not my business to ask why.
Moira says: She's not always terrible. But I'm still mad at her.
Tristan Greyholt: Clumsy and kind, maybe with the right pack...
Anna Hurd 'Claws Cause': Get-of-Fenris, Ahroun, Rank 2, 5ft 9’ tall, 31 years old. Short brown hair kept back so as not to get in the way with a moody look. For a Get she is peaceful and has a high tolerance factor and has no love for her tribe. She has often considered changing tribe altogether but the Furies never seemed to want her at the Isle of Man. She has been accepted here and is not bothered by the caerns lack of political power preferring the beauty of the landscape which she believes is unrivalled. Her mother is the famous Gale Anna Hurd, the scriptwriter, and has been born by human parents; she assumes the Garou gene was passed on by her grandfather. Here she is known as her Garou name, 'Claws Cause', but this name is not accepted outside the Caern, as she made a grave error after her rite of passage, she broke the ceremonial Glaive 'Wyrm Tooth'. She never leaves the caern and loathes meeting other Garou as the subject is always brought up. She is a pretty, but distant blonde, and sometimes has light pink highlights, and has a falcon tattoo on her back. Claws was nearly killed by a visiting Shadow Lord and she has now become unstable around them, she is also beginning to show the first signs of harano but 'Mouse' suspects this is actually a derangement. Anna dresses in smart fashionable clothes and maintains a doctors degree.
Stefan Hein: I barely know her. She seems to channel her bitterness into her dealings with others. I find that ironic as, for better or worse, her position is due to her own failures.
'Betty Dollar': Ronin 'Stargazer', Theurge, Rank 3, Metis, 5ft 4’ tall, 39 Years old, a bald albino Garou, who spends most of her time in homid where her deformity is less noticeable. She is oriental looking with pink eyes. She used to hide her deformity regularly and used to get negative comments about it but remains the best known of the garou at this caern. 'Betty Dollar' has come on in leaps and bounds at this caern and is now fully accepted as head theurge and has started to accept her parentage and her deformity. Although a theurge she is the caerns galliard too and is a lover of stories and riddles and has become a well accepted member of this caern. She still carries the scars from the visit from a high-ranking Shadow Lord that has encouraged her to cover up even more. She still tries to hide the scarring on her neck. She has a male kinfolk 'friend' and although not mates he has helped her build her confidence and self esteem over the years. She will wear full-length clothing, never in shorts or a t-shirt. No longer does she wear wigs but occasional she still wears a baseball cap.
Stefan Hein: Her decision to hide her curse is her own choice, but I regard it as ill-considered. Yes, she bears a curse, but honour lies in carrying such a weight with dignity. Her parents were the law-breakers, not her. She would do well to remember this.
Peggy Longtooth: Silent Strider, Philodox, Rank 4, 5ft 4’ tall, 63 Years old, Peggy looks like an old crone, her hair wrangled and knotted, she has less teeth in her mouth than toes on her feet (and one of those is missing), she uses a crutch to move around, and bandages the stump were her foot once was. She cackles and regularly breaks wind. Peggy has returned to being a transient member and she can rarely be found at the caern. Some believe she is having her last wander lust before the Rite of the Winter Wolf, but then, she is Deimos' student. She believes her work is done and is now looking for a Silent Strider to take over her place and inherit her collection of fetishes. In her later years she has begin to talk more odly about her time with Deimos and how it is connected to the odd dissapearance of the strange garou. She has some of Deimos mysticism and she often gives a cryptic answer while talking to trees. Peggy wears old clothes, worn and faded, smelling faintly of cabbage.
Tristan Greyholt: I couldn't politely comment. I'm sure she is a fine garou, if a little unconventional.
Stefan Hein: Silver Fang, Philodox, Rank 3, 5ft 11’ tall, 30 Years old, He has shortened hair and a noticeable facial scar covering his lip to his ear and by his reputable birth brings respect to this Caern. Stefan is the Fang that married the accredited kinfolk of the house of the Conquering Claw and they have a cold and lonely relationship. He seems no longer plagued by the political manoeuvring of the older days and works now to help defend the caern as it builds reputation and respect. Stefan is not as wealthy as the other English Fangs and can at times be unapproachable preferring the quiet of his own company or in the playing of the piano. His full title is ‘Stefan Sorrowbringer, Cliath Half-Moon of the Alpha Tribe, Bearer of the Tear of Twilight, Betrothed of the last scion of House Conquering Claw, Of the bloodline of Fights-the-Final-Winter, Of the Hein family of House Gleaming Eye’. He is a potent warrior and although seems to have little ambition and interest in politics he is now becoming a concern for Nikki. He wears suede jackets, travelling boots and well pressed trousers.
'Matt' Gordon Matthew Atherton-Smythe says: He could be so much more than he is, if he wouldn’t insist on being the main character in a tragedy… What he doesn’t realise in his self absorption is that he is playing in a comedy. He also has the proverbial “Silver Fang Stick” up his arse.
Moira says: You know, if you just imagine him in women's lingerie he really isn't so scary. Just don't ever tell him I said that.
Tristan Greyholt: He's proud and rigid but needs to accept necessity of flexibility, even the moon flows.
‘Andy’ : Ronin 'Stargazer', Ahroun, Rank 2, 5ft 9’ tall, 26 years old. Andy is a half cast oriental, wiry but muscular and having short jet-black hair with slight elongated eyes. Andy is loyal to Stefan more than to the Caern, and has some reservations about staying at the Caern. He seems to know more about Stefan’s destiny than Stefan does, and is keen to protect and defend the Silver Fang. Having had a rough rite of passage Andy, 'Mouse', '5 Findus' and Stefan form part of the caern's active pack. Kayleigh is pursuing Andy, though it is suspected that this is to encourage him to stay at the Caern through having a mate. So far he has not taken the bait. Andy also holds a Caern position – he is the Keeper of the Land.
'Matt' Gordon Matthew Atherton-Smythe says: Cute enough as well. Stinks at Tekken 6 but can be trained.
Mr. Johnson : Shadowlord, Theurge, Rank 1,5ft 10’ tall 18 years old. Mr. Johnson is a relatively recent addition to the caerns line up. He has black hair and is quite thin. He officially he is present to bridge connections between caern of the seagull and caern of the castle. He was however not what was expected when he arrived and seems far too genuine for one who should have an ulterior motive , since arriving he has fallen for Kayleigh although she does not share these feelings. Combined with her pursuit of Andy has caused Mr. Johnson to have quite an active dislike of him. He wears a pinstripe suit and maintains a professional air about him.
Quentin Blake : Fianna, Galliard, Rank 1, 5ft 11’ tall, 17 years old. A wise cracking Irishman with brown hair and a few freckles. He has a great singing voice and a love of himself. Quentin is from Birmingham and actively chose the Seabird as a place to settle and make a name and has represented the changing point for this caern - someone actually coming here to live. He brought with him some kinfolk and a love of fetish and talen making a skill which he is steadily improving. Caern members like to knock him down a peg or two, claiming that 'the theurge makes a better galliard than you' and he often will compete against Betty in storytelling and singing. Quentin, although big-headed has made this a better place to be and as such Nikki has become very fond of him. He wears the work uniform or jeans and artistic t-shirts he makes himself. He has the role Master of the Howl.
'5 Findus' : Bone Gnawer, Ragabash, Rank 1, 5ft 9’ tall, 16 years old. Thin, good looking with small dark eyes and slightly tanned skin. Another new acquisition and the caerns acquirer of all things shiny. He gets his nickname from his love of fish fingers and the fact that he is an adept thief who has recently earned a place in the active pack. He is quite loyal and honest for a Bone Gnawer and also has some limited theurge abilities which helped him secure a place at the caern. He is from France originally but has only a little trace of an accent, his past is still unknown. He tends to wear nice clothes and dresses for the occasion - just occasionally they still have the price tags on them or the electronic tag. He has taken an interest with one of the girl kin at the caern.
'Matt' Gordon Matthew Atherton-Smythe says: Man if you have to do that, at least don’t do it in public…. Even I get that.
Moira says: Disgustin'. Little goblin needs scrubbin' with a wire brush.
Tristan Greyholt: If I see him anywhere near Moira again I'll shove those antlers somewhere so deep he won't stop dancing for stag until they come out.
Kinfolk - This Caern is still undermanned, so they use kinfolk at the caern to bolster the number of active members. The most important of which are included below in the roster.
Lesley Wilson: Shadow Lord kinfolk, 5ft 10’. 46 years old. Lesley is the replacement of Anna, who killed herself when she lost her Caern position. She is more concerned with the maintenance of the island and her RSPB job than in aiding the Sept. She is cold and unemotional, and a Yorkshire lass, hiding her true feelings very deep down. She has so far not made any friends but for Kayleigh, who she nurtures out of companionship, but secretly finds pathetic. Lesley is tall and slender favouring red and black garments when not in her uniform, and will spend much of her time in her duties. She has managerial qualities.
Kayleigh Jones: Suspected Children of Gaia, or Silent Strider Kinfolk, 5ft 7’ tall, 22 Years old, slightly smaller than her mother, looking very similar but far more attractive, Kay has long black hair. She undertakes her past mother’s job on the Island, and is a qualified environmental officer and one of the official residents of the island. Kay has the attention of several town folk, but has eyes for only one, a French boy called 'Gaston'. She has particular interest in some of the garou though (and is often classed as 'loose'). She seems to have a strange fascination with werewolves and finds them very attractive. When she speaks she draws her words, although young she has had many partners, but few hang around till the morning. This makes her quite quick to try and impress a new man, and can make her look as slutty.
Stefan Hein: Kin should be…educated…with care regarding their role in our society. It does none of us any good if they…stray…from the path.
The Caern: Made in 1998, the caern has been slow in developing and is only now starting ot pick up pace. The bawn has doubled in the last year and the caern has opened its first moonbridge to Manchester. The Caern often has problems recruiting due to its weak power and low Wyrm presence but this situation has also recently improved. The Island is only inhabited officially by two people, the RSPB wardens and is a dedicated bird sanctuary. There are several abandoned farms on the island, which have not been used since the Industrial revolution, and a herd of deer, and a huge population of Rabbits -estimated at 3 million on the mile square island. The Caern was promising when established but the Leader opposed Lord Gilliat, at a Grand Moot, and when he became the King of England, all help for this Caern then ran dry. Now that the Shadow Lord is no longer the King, things have not improved and Nikki is always on the lookout for new recruits for the Caern, so she can fill some of the key roles. The Caern has literally no political standing, and little power, and it is probably a good thing that the Wyrm is weak in the area and the Caern is still unknown to the Wyrm. A few Garou blatantly shun the Caern but in later days the Caern has begun to receive visitors. Ian Henrys is becoming a regular face at the Caern, bringing news and gossip, although it is suspected that he is there as a spy. The Shadow Lords recently made a play for the ownership of the Caern, and were foiled by Stefan Hein’s notable position and Andy. Inter-caern politics are on the rise here and there is a growing disillusioning with Nikki as leader. Though, no one yet is strong enough to take it from her, unless Stefan steps up to the challenge.
Visitors: The caern is more likely than ever before to receive visitors now, but still the numbers are less than 20 a year. Ian Henries still makes his rounds there and the other visitors constitute young garou with few skills looking for caerns to adopt them. Nikki has started to look careful and recruits the best of them.
